Hatha:

The classic yoga practice, Hatha focuses on the integrated use of physical postures (asanas), attention to and control of the energy and patterns of the breath (pranayama) and deep internal mental focus and concentration (dharana) to achieve balance between body and mind.  An ideal place for new students to start their yoga journey.

Hatha Fusion:

Incorporating elements of Iyengar and Ashtanga with classical Hatha yoga, Hatha Fusion classes move through a variety of postures and themes with an aim towards a balanced body and mind.  The pace is slower than that of a Vinyasa Flow class, and less rigorous than a full Ashtanga class, making Hatha Fusion a good transition class for advanced beginners, and offering experienced practitioners  an opportunity to explore the foundation and subtleties of poses more deeply.

Rise & Shine:

Start your day with this class designed to awaken and energize the body and mind.   Classes will vary, but almost all will include a series of sun salutations;  standing poses such as Warrior I, Warrior II, and Triangle; extension poses like Cobra and Bow to generate energy; and forward bends to cool the body and calm the mind. This is an active class that will stretch and strengthen you at the same time!

Sivananda:

Sivananda Yoga is a classical and holistic approach to Hatha Yoga  designed to increase strength, flexibility, proper breathing, and ease in meditation.  After warming up with sun salutations, the focus is on mastery of twelve basic poses:  head stand, shoulder stand, plow, fish, seated forward bend, cobra, locust, bow, spine twist, crow, and standing forward bend.  Each pose is practiced in the same order at each class, with a relaxation pose performed after every posture.  While Sivananda will challenge even the most experienced yogini, the slower, focused pace makes this a good class for beginners.

Vinyasa Flow:

Vinyasa means breath-synchronized movement. Students can expect a challenging and energizing practice, incorporating classical and creatively adapted sun-salutations, standing and seated postures, backbends, inversions, balance poses alongside with meditation and yogic breathing. In this vinyasa flow class much attention is paid to correct alignment, to create a safe place for the body and a calming environment for the mind.

Yin & Yang:

The best of both worlds, with two teachers to guide your practice. Class opens with Jayanti taking students through Sun Salutations to warm the muscles and detoxify the body and mind. Once Jayanti has the students warmed up, Kwame takes over to focus on precise alignment and breathing to establish powerful standing poses and twists, holding them and breathing through the energy exchange. Jayanti closes the class with seated poses and backbends followed by guided meditation savasana (rest).

Yoga Fundamentals:

Yoga fundamentals introduces and reinforces the principles and practice of breathwork,  and alignment and sequencing of fundamental yoga asanas: sun salutations, seated and standing poses, backbends, and restorative poses.  Modification of asanas and use of props are also explored.  This is a perfect class for new students, and a place for experienced practitioners to revisit throughout their yoga journey.
